420 acres in the southeast Tennessee mountains. This brief generic description is accurate, but only when one considers the natural beauty and character of this land does it enter ‘special’ status. Walking eastward from the access road, which runs along the western boundary, the first half mile or so is level to undulating, covered in mixed pine and deciduous forest. As one approaches the rugged bluff near the center of the property, which runs north south, a pause is in order. Atop the spine of the mountain there are multiple level to gently sloping home site possibilities. The rear portion of the home would face east-southeast, and what a view. An incredible view. Miles of rugged rock formations too. A long valley, parallel to the bluff line, meanders southward far below, and one can see tree-covered mountains for miles. Below the bluff is old growth hardwood forest. Almost a half mile below the bluff, far down the slope, a mountain stream cascades down the valley along the eastern boundary. Wildlife? Big whitetail bucks abound in this protected mountain habitat. Wild turkeys seem to be everywhere. This land is not for everyone…..it is a long way to the nearest neighbor and this location can only be discovered if an acquaintance or family member calls and asks. To add to the solitude of this end-of-the-road Tennessee mountain land, on the only access road (paved), there is an exclusive gated entry. Further, across the road to the west, is the 7,700+ acre Franklin State Forest.
